Grade 3 Gynecomastia

Men with enlarged breast tissue (gynecomastia) often struggle with poor body image, and one of my favorite procedures, gynecomastia surgery, can help reduce breast tissue and boost self-confidence. Now, it is important to understand that there are different grades of gynecomastia, and each will require a slightly different surgical approach. You can read my article, gynecomastia grading systems, for more information on this.

In this specific video, you will meet a patient of mine who struggled with grade 3 gynecomastia. This moderate breast enlargement presents with a lot of breast tissue outside the nipple area and some sagging, or loose skin. My chosen technique for this specific gynecomastia case is Vaser liposuction to get rid of all the extra fat in the chest and the side chest, and then the gentle removal of the extra breast tissue to finalize the chest contour.

The marking process is crucial to ensure the best results. I prefer to do my markings while the patient is in an upright position. You will see where my markings indicate the area that I will lipo in a way to reorient the patient’s chest to be less bottom-heavy and get rid of the teardrop-shaped appearance. During the procedure, I use a tumescent fluid to help with pain control and bleeding control; this ensures patient comfort throughout the surgery.

My goal with the Vaser liposuction is to make the chest contours more masculine. You will see in my post-liposuction markings, the reduction in the bottom chest area that appears less bulky than before. Unfortunately, no amount of diet and exercise will get rid of the extra fat and breast tissue that I remove during this grade 3 gynecomastia procedure. My patient and I are both happy with the results and we are both excited to see the final results post-recovery. His chest is already looking more defined and masculine.
