The Benefits of Gynecomastia Surgery for a Bodybuilder’s Confidence and Physique
When you think of gynecomastia, many think about men with a lot of excess fat, and larger male breasts – and not about bodybuilders with gynecomastia. See the surgical process, as well as my patient’s before and after photos in the video I posted on YouTube about a bodybuilder with grade 2 gynecomastia.
The gynecomastia condition is a common one, and affects men of all ages. Characterized by the enlargement of breast tissue via a number of causes, such as hormonal imbalances or obesity, it can be distressing for those who suffer from it.
This patient is a bodybuilder with gynecomastia caused by testosterone boosters taken 13 -14 years ago, which produced excess breast tissue, an asymmetry on his left side, and occasional pain. The goal of this surgery was to eliminate the existing asymmetry, plus remove the excess breast tissue and not any excess fat, so when the patient gets leaner, his natural and smooth contour is preserved. Liposuction was not used in this surgery, as there was no need to remove any of what little excess fatty tissue that remained.
Because bodybuilders and very lean men can pose a challenge in removing just the breast tissue, I was extremely methodical about this excision, and took time to separate the breast tissue from the other underlying tissue and muscle in the chest.
I completed this surgery through small incisions where the areola meets the skin, which will help disguise them once they are healed. As you can see in the video, the patient’s chest matches the rest of his contour, the bottom heaviness he started with has been removed, and won’t hold him back once he continues his training after recovery.
Even lean, fit men can suffer from gynecomastia, as evidenced by this bodybuilder’s gynecomastia from testosterone boosters in my video. I’m passionate about helping men regain their confidence and rediscover a body they love.
